GNF parade: An appreciation
The final verdicts on the new route for last Sunday's Good Neighbor Festival parade, and on the ban on elected officials of any kind to participate in the parade are still out, but some preliminary anecdotal evidence suggests that the new route at least was received generally favorably. Visitors also appreciated the fact that the whole GNF site at Firemen's Park is an unrestricted zone for alcohol, a change from the previous zoo-cages-like conditions that was first enacted last year, with improvements made this year.
The GNF organizers are still collecting feedback via a survey that was handed out with the parade program (they also accept email comments to gnfparade@gmail.com). The survey consists of four questions of substance: '1. What did you think of the new parade route? Answer options range from 'strongly dislike' to 'strongly like', and they also request to explain one's answer. 2. What should the parade have more or less of? What do you think about the length? 3. What did you think about the additional safety measures added to this years parade?
