Seven Middleton residents attended a public information meeting on Sunday, October 2, at the Lakeview Park shelter about the City's property tax levy referendum request. The meeting was hosted by District 4 Council member Emily Kuhn and District 8 Council member Randall Crow (both standing in the background) who were joined by their colleagues Kathy Olson (District 1) and Lisa Janairo (District 6). A second meeting on the same topic took place later that day at Stricker Park, but since that was at four o'clock and I wanted to watch the Packers, I didn't go.
Middleton airport: Letter-writing contest
The City of Middleton has replied to the Town of Middleton's September 21 letter about lead emissions from aircraft around Middleton's Morey Field airport, and in which they asked, among other things, for the airport to immediately stop the sale of leaded aviation fuel (see Middleton e-View 229). Besides being “pleased that the lead levels measured by Trinity at the three sites they selected are significantly less than the average ambient lead in the air as measured by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the United States at 0.03 µg/m3 [micrograms per cubic meter] over the past three years, particularly given that one of the sites was located so close to a decommissioned shooting range”, and pointing out that “the Trinity test results indicate that airborne lead levels are well below the EPA’s National Ambient Air Quality Standard of 0.15 µg/m3”, the letter also outlines “three steps toward embracing the new unleaded fuel:
