Early Tuesday morning, a drunk driver speeding east on University Avenue missed the turn at Branch Street and, according to the police report, left the roadway, struck the traffic light control box, several trees and the UW Health building. The damage to the control box has put all the traffic lights at the intersection of Branch and University out of action, and "due to ongoing supply chain issues" they might be inoperable "for an extended period of time". An all-way stop has been put in place for the time being.
