Business spotlight: The Book Deal
The Book Deal is an independent, locally owned used bookstore with a big ambition - to foster literacy in our community, through affordable and free access to books. People who shop at The Book Deal help them to give away free children’s books (five per child per visit) in the community. In addition to direct giveaways to the community, the store also offers a 10% discount to current and former educators. Their selection of over 30,000 used books in more than 60 categories (and distributed through a dozen rooms), includes thousands of children’s and young adult books, all for under $4. They also have a growing CD, DVD, and Vinyl section and a small comic book and graphic novel section, as well as additional vintage media - the stock rotates, but may include VHS, cassette tapes, LaserDiscs, and much more. The Book Deal is located south of the Beltline on the frontage road between Rimrock Road and Park Street, in the same building as EZPawn and the Pitcher's Pub.

On Tuesday, March 21, the Middleton City Council will be asked to approve a new service agreement between Middleton and Metro Transit, an agreement that, according to the City staff comments, "reflects the new transit service being implemented throughout the metro area in June 2023, and the change in funding resulting from Middleton's application to the 2023 Wisconsin Public Transit Assistance Program (PTAP)." The latter is a State program that provides financial assistance to municipalities to help fund public transportation.
