City meetings: The Public Works Committee's religious calendar
Under its new chairman Charles Myers, who was appointed by mayor Emily Kuhn more for his Democratic political credentials than for his expertise in public works matters, the City of Middleton's Public Works Committee is (re)scheduling or canceling its meetings based on religious festivals and observances. Normally, the committee meets the second and fourth Monday of the month. But under the new policy, it does not meet on any of those days if the meeting might conflict with a religious festival pretty much anywhere in the world. The official reason for these considerations is to facilitate public participation.
