Cooper's hawk (juvenile) in Middleton Hills this fall. These medium-sized birds of prey often stay the winter in Wisconsin, where they like to keep an eye on bird feeders, which must seem like lunch buffets to them. Last year I had at least two mourning doves picked off by a Cooper's hawk while they were feeding on my deck.
