Paying dearly for an ill-advised decision
Long-time City Attorney Larry Bechler has retired. He had served in this position through the law firm of Murphy Desmond S.C. from 2000 to 2023, providing legal advice and guidance under five different mayors, whether it was taken or not. Before that he had served as Assistant City Attorney from 1978. At his last official Middleton Common Council meeting on December 19, 2023, he was recognized through a proclamation honoring his service (here he is pictured with the proclamation and Middleton Mayor Emily Kuhn; photo courtesy of City Administrator Bryan Gadow).
