Monday, February 19, 17:30, Zoom
The agenda includes updates on the 'energy efficiency navigator project' and on housing data.
City of Middleton Sustainability Committee
Monday, February 19, 18:30, Zoom
Among other items, the committee will discuss funding options for Madison Metro bus passes for City of Middleton employees, as well as how the Sustainability Committee could contribute to streamlining and consolidating City committees (for instance, could it merge with another committee?).
City of Middleton Park, Recreation and Forestry Commission
Monday, February 19, 19:00, City Hall/Zoom
The commission will discuss raising the developer tree planting fee from $375 to $385. As part of the City-wide discussion on on 'City committee streamlining and consolidation', it will talk about its liaison positions with other committees, and the possibility of perhaps absorbing the Conservancy Lands Committee.
City of Middleton Finance Committee
Tuesday, February 20, 18:30, City Hall/Zoom
The Finance Committee will discuss, and presumably approve, a number of agreements, including for work to be done at Pleasant View Golf Course, and a new 'transit service agreement' between the City of Madison and the City of Middleton. Under the new agreement, the numbers of which have been known since last year and are part of the 2024 budget, the 'net local cost', i.e. what the City of Middleton pays for bus service in Middleton after State transit aid has been factored in, increases from $429,095 now to $569,545. This increase in cost reflects increases in service hours and in the fixed route cost. The latter includes just under $265,000 for paratransit service. State transit aid for Middleton increases from $873,000 to $1.135 million, while Madison Metro's total bill for Middleton increases from $1.259 million to $1.705 million.
City of Middleton Common Council
Tuesday, February 20, 19:30, City Hall/Zoom
The Council will hold the second public hearing about the ordinances to 'reapeal and recreate' the zoning, outdoor lighting and sign ordinances. After the public hearing, these ordinances will be discussed and voted on as the first reading (again). Following the recommendation of the Plan Commission, the Public Works Committee and the Pedestrian, Bicycle and Transit Committee, the Council will discuss 'Plan B' for the reconstruction of Parmenter Street north of Century Avenue. Plan A, to widen the street to ninety feet and install a sidewalk, a multi-use trail, bike lanes and a median, might have to be scrapped if negotiations by the City's consultant MSA to acquire the necessary right of way from private property owners can't be concluded successfully. Plan B would eliminate the median. While MSA and the City blame some property owners for the lack of success so far, at least one property owner claims to not even having been contacted yet by either the City or MSA. The Council will also unveil the official portrait of former mayor Gurdip Brar, who will thus join his six predecessors in the gallery of rogues in Council Chambers.
